My goal is to inspire a rise in hero’s journey’s on earth and to add more value as a helper on the path to realizing a world that you always dreamed possible, by giving you tools that all superhero’s inherently have and that you can immediately use to improve your life and world around you.
A born-and-rased 1st generation Australian of Germanic heritage, there’s nothing more than a passion for adventure, my laptop, an intellectual tool belt and a yacht to sail the seven seas of self knowledge. I live to see the light of truth over a new horizon, so we may all grow old and wise together.
I help people to find meaning and dream big, by hero journeying through life. Experienced profound serenity venturing in the unknown, with the MyHJ road map to track, anticipate and predict the road ahead.
In fact, I’m using it right now living the dream, on the heros journey adventure slowly sailing the seven seas.
My Story is not a pretty one, learning from the school of hard knocks, I didn’t find my feet until I was 18yrs old.
In 2003, I turned it all around and forced a major RESET in my OS.
You know when your computer used to freeze, before Apple came along… When absolutely nothing works and all you can do is a Forced Reset, a hard reset, by turning off the power and waiting 90seconds. Then turning it back on again.
Well that’s what I did with my mind and my body. I realised that I had nothing to lose and everything to gain. So I performed my own, ‘operating system’ hard reset.
When I was 12, my mother took her own life, and that was a difficult time in my life, as I was just opening my eyes and starting to put together a mental understanding of the small world around me.
As a result of feeling abandonment, resentment and uncertainty. I got my wires completely crossed and became a reckless and troubled youth, hanging out with the wrong crowd, spiraling out of control together with drugs and alcohol, petty crime and mischief in a small rural town.
This went on for a number of years and gradually I started to see the errors of my ways. And with that recognition I started making attempts to swim against the momentum of my social setting. Trying to make a change in my life was difficult when my sense of self was tied to those who wanted to continue deeper into the abyss of trouble and addiction… I had to break free of the peer pressure.
It’s wasn’t till after studying the hero’s journey in yr 12 General English studies “Change in Self”, that I started to form a picture of how I could find my true path to living a successful and fulfilling life.
So one night driving home after relapsing in my old ways, I had a moment of illumination, where I realiest that If it wanted to experience lasting change I would have to take some form of massive action… I was in a lot of pain at the time. So I asked myself & GOD:
“If there is something for me to do here that uniquely only I can do, Let me find it, otherwise, let me continue on a new adventure”. with that in mind,
I crashed my car into a parked semi-trailer @ 100km/hr;
Forcing the reset button in my life…
Drastic situations cause for drastic actions…
“I Do Not Recommend This.”
This is what it looks like when you suddenly Hit the rock bottom of a downward spiraling momentum,
During my 5 days comatose ‘operating system’ reset, I received a outer-body, near-death-experience of profound importance and when my cognition returned, I suddenly knew what I had to do.
I knew had thrust myself through the threshold of resistance, past the point of no return, on a self-styled mission. So with a burning desire to master my destiny, I began a 10yr heros journey:
“To search for the heights of the greatest knowledge, understanding and wisdom available to humanity and to share that with the world”
So I basically started from scratch. Because I had really impacted my frontal lobe with minor brain damage repair, I knew it would take time. So I had to re-examine everything I received from my 12 years at Cape Byron Rudolf Steiner School. I then set out into the unknown.
The first helper/mentor appeared in the 1st week after the reset, his day time infomercials are part of the reason why he has reached so many people, that’s how get got me in 2003. Even with the Tony Robbins – Personal Power Series II, it was a slow climb to the top. But eventually towards the end of my last year of high school I managed to ‘get the edge’ and developed miniature taste of the kind of cognition that fits descriptions of “enlightenment”.
Being on the right path is obvious, in the eyes of the adventurer.
I quickly realized that “The World Was My Oyster” and that I could make of it what I wished.
So I payed close attention to the act of learning over and above the pursuit of the almighty dollar.
It wasn’t just self-improvement week, it was self-improvement that quickly became a life motto. All of a sudden the world opened up to me and before I knew it there were not enough hours in the day to absorb all the different types of personal development material I could get my hands on.
Change in myself quickly became natural and the road of trials were a series of tests that helped me to shed my skin and continuously reinvent myself.
It was then that I observed that others around me appeared to have arrived from their adventures to a nice vista, and were setting up their base camps and opening up shop. Most of the time, it appeared that was in the abyss, the wastelands or the belly of the whale where people sought their comforts.
And It was during those times, I realised that I was a long way from home.
So all I could do was stick to my path and keep taking one step at a time.
After all, I was on a mission, I was blazing a trail and self-styling my own path of life education to discover the highest forms of wisdom and the whole human capacity.
Where that would take me, I did not know nor did I really care that much either, as long as I made it home with the treasure intact.
Over the years that were to follow, I quietly continued collecting, comparing and contrasting the tools and techniques of a liberal education, and all of a sudden I heard the call to a new adventure. Initially it seemed that I was abandoning my mission, but it was such a strong urge that I just had to go with it.
This was the threshold of return. It’s what brought it all home for me. I completed my 10yrs heros journey by returning from a one year rookie sailor adventure.
I turned to the sea ‘natures last stronghold’, to test my whits and the tools on a small 40+yr old yacht, matched against mother and the some of the most dangerous passages in the southern ocean.
Solo Sailing was a subject I knew nothing about.
But in less than 3 months I had given myself a crash course in boat maintenance and repairs, sail trim, handling and navigation. And fortunately, I didn’t have long to wait to put my newly acquired skills to the test.
On my first major leg when a southern ocean cold front crossed my path for the next 36hrs, raging 40kt winds and 5m swells, I was one wide eyed Rookie Sailor learning quickly to survive cray pots, reefs, rocks, wind, waves and fatigue, I also ran into a rare sandy beach on the shipwreck famous limestone coast of South Australia.
In 2013, I risked it all and took to the sea, survived and returned. This marked the archetypal return from my 10 year journey to find the heights of human potential and wisdom. That has set in motion The Order Of The Hero.
But the job is only half done, how would you share this with the world?
And so the glue that I’m using to tie all this together is the story sequence of the monomyth or hero’s journey. In fact it forms the basis of the most successful stories in movies and in books and is naturally reflected in the way the human psyche engages with the society. We are hardwired for stories that have a beginning, middle and an end.
So as my story comes to an end, your story is only just beginning.
There is a fork in the road, where you will need to decide which path you want to take,
“This is your last chance. After this, there is no turning back. You take the blue pill — the story ends, you wake up in your bed and believe whatever you want to believe. You take the red pill — you stay in Wonderland and I show you how deep the rabbit hole goes.”
